Time for umpires to register
The East Mississippi Umpires Association is holding registration Wednesday, March 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Northwest Junior High School. They will also be holding registration Sunday, March 17 from 2 to 4 at the same location.

Quitman takes South State title
Quitman grabbed the South State powerlifting title Saturday with a 44-28 win over Laurel. Quitman has won the South State title six out of the last ten years.
Individual winners for the Panthers were Jeffrey Jasper in the 114 class, Travis Chambliss in the 165 class, Jeffrey Smith in the 198 class, and Eugene Hamilton in the 220 class.
Quitman will be battling for the state title April 12-13, at Pearl.

Noxupater defeats Choctwa Central
Noxupater took a 14-11 win over Choctaw Central Saturday in prep baseball action.
The winning pitcher was Joe Edwards. He is now 1-0 on the mound. Noxupater was led at the plate by Sed Ickelberger with a double, Tommy Weeks with a double, Cole Cremeen with two singles, and Joe Edwards with two singles.
Noxupater will be facing Scott Central, Monday.

MCC gets knocked out of tourney
Meridian Community College took a 6-2 win over Iowa Lake in game one, but lost 5-2 to Walbash Valley Saturday in the Pensacola Tournament.
In game one, MCC was led on the mound by Ashlee Frazier. Multiple hitters for the Lady Eagles were Lindsey Stamm going 2-3 and Allison Reader with a double.
In game two, MCC had Anne McLean on the mound. They were led at the plate by Morgan Wright going 2-3, Stephanie Dixon going 2-3 with a double, and Kaylora Bingham hitting a double.
The Lady Eagles now stand at 16-11 for the season.

Northeast Lauderdale downs Union
The Lady Trojans of Northeast took a 5-1 win over Union Saturday in prep softball action.
The Lady Trojans' Lauren Webb improved her reocrd to 3-0 on the mound. Multiple hitters were Raleigh Odom, Grace Ann Watkins, and Jana Olzak all going 2-4.
