Lady Wildcats split two in fast-pitch

The Meridian Lady Wildcats split a pair of games on Saturday in girls fast-pitch softball action. The Lady Wildcats defeated Enterprise 6-4. The win moves Meridian to 4-6 on the season. Erin Murphy got the win to improve to 4-5 on the year. At the plate, Artesian Boyd had three hits including a triple. Stephanie Nelson had two hits.
Columbus 10
Meridian 6
The Lady Wildcats fell to Columbus 10-6. Meridian got three hits from Artesian Boyd. She also had a double. Laura Bowles had two hits and Stephanie Nelson had a triple.
Erin Murphy took the loss.
Clarkdale 3
Columbus 2
Clarkdale picked up four wins to claim the New Hope Invitatonal Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs defeated South Pontotoc 16-1, Louisville 11-0, New Hope 6-2 and Columbus 3-2 in the finals.
Emily Howard got the mound wins against South Pontotoc, New Hope and Columbus. JorD'an Orr got the win against Louisville. The wins move Clarkdale to 13-7-1 on the season.
Neshoba Central 14
Philadelphia 0
The Lady Rockets of Neshoba Central spanked cross-town rival Philadelphia 14-0 in girls fast-pitch action on Saturday.
Neshoba Central improves to 8-7 on the season while Philadelphia is 5-1.
Lindsey Smith tossed a no-hitter to pace Neshoba Central. She struck out eight in moving to 4-3 on the year.
At the plate, Jessi Nowell was 3-for-5. Sarah Williamson was 2-for-3.
Neshoba travels to West Point for a Divsiion 4-4A game on Monday at 5 p.m.
