The West Lauderdale Knights picked up where New Hope left off Saturday night to give Louisville its second 10-run rule loss. The Knights took the decision 12-1.
When you think of baseball in the state of Mississippi, you naturally think of New Hope and West Lauderdale. The Wildcats are coming off two back-to-back games with both of those clubs.
On a positive note, Boatner is proud of his team's play.
Bo Davis was issued a walk in the first inning, he later scored on a sacrifice fly by Trent Posey to put the Knights on top 1-0.
Posey gave up a solo home run in the second inning to Chris Perry to tie the game at one run apiece, but that did not faze Posey. The Knight pitcher regained his composure and fanned the next three batters.
The Knights exploded for five runs on three hits to take a 6-1 lead in the second inning.
In the third inning, the Knights got one run from a C. Jay Fountain solo homer that put West up 7-1.
West Lauderdale got two more runs in the fourth on two hits to take a 9-1 lead.
Jay Warren and Caleb Dulaney set the stage for a dramatic finish for Davis. After hitting a home run Friday night, Davis blasted another shot over the left field wall to finish off the Wildcats.
The Knights were led in hitting by Fountain with a home run and a single. Davis and Dulaney were 1-for-3 each, with Dulaney and Posey both adding doubles.
Posey took the win for the Knights to make the club 15-6 on the year, while Brad Hill suffered the loss. Louisville fell to 10-13.
West Lauderdale will play again on Tuesday when it hosts Newton County at 7 p.m.
