The Clarkdale Lady Bulldogs defeated Enterprise 10-0 in five innings last night to secure it's spot in the fast-pitch softball playoffs.
Homestanding Clarkdale scored runs early in the game and were led from the mound by sophomore Emily Howard. Howard allowed only one hit in her shutout performance.
The victory ups the Lady Bulldogs record to 4-0 in division play as they venture into their last two games of the year. Clarkdale plays host to Newton Thursday and travels to Enterprise a week later.
Clarkdale scored first off a single from Howard that drove in JorD'an Orr making the score 1-0. Clarkdale hit its stride in the bottom of the second inning scoring five runs.
With the bases loaded and no outs Savannah Satcher sent in Sabrina Woodall. Brandi Wright hit a single that drove in Bethany Spidle to make the score 3-0 with one out.
Megan Potate hit a screaming single that drove in Satcher. The throw to the plate was bobbled and lead to two more Clarkdale runs. Wright and Potate rounded third making the score 6-0.
In the bottom of the fourth with the bases loaded, Howard hit a single that scored Potate and Wright, making the score 8-0. Ashley Satcher hit a single to left field that scored Orr.
The Bulldogs final run came when Woodall hit a single scoring pinch runner Brandi Limerick.
