More than 250 people are expected to attend tonight's auction of tabletop carousel horses to benefit Hope Village for Children a long-term facility for abused and neglected children.
The tabletop models are smaller versions of the horses installed in front of businesses, schools and homes in recent weeks as part of the "Around Town Carousels Abound" public art project, which also benefits Hope Village.
The auction features 55 fiberglass horses painted and signed by local and national celebrities and artists. A reception and silent auction begin at 7 p.m. Casual attire is recommended; the reception will include music, food and an open bar. A live auction begins at 8:30 p.m.
The event will take place at Meridian Little Theatre on Highway 39 North. Tickets are $75 at the door.
