Mr. and Mrs. Stephen M. Dyess Sr. of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Leah, to James Rawson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus A. Rawson of Meridian.
The wedding will be held Saturday, May 11, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church.
Miss Dyess is the granddaughter of Mary Jane Mosby of Meridian and the late Joseph M. Mosby Sr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Dyess Sr. of Meridian.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Northeast Lauderdale High School and will receive a degree in human science, with an emphasis in food, nutrition and dietetics, from Mississippi State University in May.
While at MSU, she is a member of the Student Dietetic Association, Gamma Beta Phi, Golden Key National Honor Society, Kappa Omicron Nu and Gamma Sigma Delta honor societies.
Mr. Rawson is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Rawson, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Covington, all of Meridian.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Northeast Lauderdale High School and received a a degree in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University.
While attending MSU, he was president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a member of Gamma Beta Phi, Pi Tau Sigma and Omicron Delta honor societies.
Mr. Rawson is employed by ExxonMobil in Baton Rouge, La.
A reception will be held at the church following the ceremony.
