Umpires meeting being held
There will be a meeting Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Sammie Davidson Complex for anyone interested in umpiring ASA summer league softball who has already registered. For further info call Jerry Stewart 483-1607 or John McNeel at 681-6192.

Rush, BSA host golf tourney
Rush Hospital and the Boy Scouts will hold a benefit golf tournament at Briarwood Country Club on May 4-5. This will be a four ball format and the entry fee is $200. Prize money will be paid for the first seven finishes with a seven shot maximum form the leader, improvement rule applies to Sunday's score except for championship and first flight.
White tees, shotgun start Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for the first 96 teams. There will be a practice round held the week of the tournament. Tournament committee are Bobby Parker, Alex Weddington, Jack Combest and Rob McGraw. SEC TV checks into Fox
Fox Sports Net weekly, Emmy Award winning Southeastern Conference magazine airs on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.. It will re-air on Friday at 11 a.m.
The highlight of the program will be a run through spring football practice wrap-ups through out the league. Arkansas, Alabama, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee either scrimmaged or played spring games last weekend.
Gymnastics reporter Lori Strong Ballard previews the 2002 NCAA Gymnastics Championships which will be hosted by Alabama. It is th third time the event will be hosted at the Coleman Center in Tuscaloosa. Four teams are nationally ranked from the SEC and they include No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia, No. 6 LSU and No. 15 Florida.
SEC TV will also feature "Around the Horn" a baseball roundup providing news and notes from the diamond. Four teams from the SEC are ranked in No. 4 Alabama (32-5), No. 8 South Carolina (28-8), No. 12 Ole Miss (29-8) and No. 14 Florida (26-12).

Korzack headed to Starkville
STARKVILLE Ashleigh Korzack has signed a women's golf scholarship with Mississippi State.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Korzack will join the Lady Bulldogs for the fall 2002 season. Korzack is an honor student at Malvern Collegiate Institute, and has garnered numerous awards including the selection to Team Canada that was set to participate in the inaugural International WHGA "The Spirit" tournament in Houston, Texas, prior to Sept. 11. Korzack's top performances include a tournament title at the 2000 Colgate University Canadian Junior Girls Association and a second place finish at the 2001 Canadian National Junior Championship. Korzack also placed eight out of a field of 96 at the 2001 Ontario Junior Girls tournament.

Bama wins Spring Invitational
OXFORD The University of Alabama women's soccer team won the 2002 Ole Miss Spring Invitational over the weekend.
All spring, the Tide (12-2-6) had relied on steady defense to post a 7-2-5 record, but during the tournament Alabama had an offensive explosion, scoring 24 goals in six matches to go 5-0-1 in the tournament and take home the championship.
Bama went up against host school Ole Miss in the semifinals and defeated the Rebels 2-1. The Tide put an exclamation point on their goal scoring, netting five goals in the championship game in a 5-0 win over Mississippi State. The Tide was paced by sophomore Dawn Nash who scored nine goals on the day.
