Meridian Community College's baseball team used the long ball Wednesday to earn its 30th victory of the season a 12-2 victory over homestanding Bevill (Ala.) State. MCC hit four homers in the contest, including a pair of dingers by former Lamar School standout Robert Daggett. Daggett was 2-for-2 with his third and fourth homers of the season. Chad Bradley also had a big day for Meridian, as he banged out a 2-for-3 performance that included his first home run of the year.
Brandon Medders pitched four scoreless innings and Brent Lewis had two hits and scored three runs as Mississippi State defeated Southern Mississippi 6-4 Wednesday night. Medders (5-1) allowed just one hit and struck out five before giving way to Ryan Carroll in the fifth. Lewis was 2-for-4 and five players had one RBI each for Mississippi State (23-15).

Lamar scored five unearned runs in the first inning and Neil Davis pitched a compete game two-hitter, as the Raiders took a key division win over Manchester Friday night, 7-2. With the win, the Raiders even their Academy 3-AAA record at 2-2, with two conference games remaining. A win Monday at Manchester would flow allow the Raiders to host a first-round playoff game.
Larry Etheridge definitely wanted the Division 5-3A championship. His players made sure he got it. Southeast Lauderdale claimed the title with a 12-2 victory over Carthage, winning by 10-run rule when first baseman Joey Ethridge smashed a two-run homer to right to end the game. The Tigers play in the first round of the playoffs Thursday at East Marion, the team's first postseason appearance since 1992.

Monte Marshall led off the bottom of the first with a home run, and the flood began. Meridian High score early and often on its way to a 10-6 win over Louisville Saturday at John Moss Field. In the battle of Wildcats, Meridian scratched out four runs on four hits in the first. Marcus McCoy had a three-run home run in the inning, scoring Dexter McCleon and Marcus Portis. Norman Driskill had a solo shot later, giving Meridian three home runs for the day.

Keshia Anderson
Keshia Anderson is a freshmen at Meridian High School, where she participates in Track and Cross-Country. Anderson runs the mile and the two mile distance for the Lady Wildcats in track.
Anderson has ran cross-country for two years, and this is her first year to run track, however she has also been on an in-door track team, that had meets the Mississippi State University, in Starkville.
Keshia is the proud daughter of Michael and Lorrie Anderson of Meridian.
