Amy Elizabeth Jones of Shubuta and James Edward Carl of Kansas City, Kan., were married Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in a 2:30 p.m. Walt Disney World Pavilion in Orlando, Fla. The Rev. Timothy Herring officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Jones of Shubuta. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Wells of Waynesboro; Katie Jones of Shubuta and the late Raymond Jones.
The bridegroom is the son of Pat Carl of Kansas City and Ralph Carl of Mandeville, La. He is the grandson of Ruth Slickman of Cortez, Colo., and the late Dr. Robert Slickman; Jim Carl of Kansas City and the late Rita Carl.
Music for the ceremony was provided by the wedding pavilion organist and was accompanied by a violinist.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore an elegant sleeveless full-length gown of white satin and chiffon with a chapel-length train. The gown was enhanced with an overlay beginning at a beaded empire waistline flowing down the length of the gown. The rounded neckline was also beaded with beaded straps extending down the back of the gown into a V-shape, which connected at the waistline. Her chiffon veil fell from a tiara made of crystals and pearls. The bride carried a bouquet of burgundy red roses tied with a white satin ribbon.
Randi Prestridge McCraney served as matron of honor. Mrs. McCraney's daughter, Alli Kate Ross, served as flower girl.
Adam Carl, brother of the bridegroom, served as the best man. Rob Jones, brother of the bride, served as usher.
Upon leaving the glass-enclosed pavilion with a view of Cinderella's Castle in the background, the couple walked over the arched bridge through a cascade of bubbles blown by their guests. They left by limousine to the reception followed by a dinner, which was held at Ariel's Restaurant at the Walt Disney World Yacht and Beach Club Resort.
On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom's mother hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Sand Trap Restaurant on the grounds of Disney's Bonnet Creek Golf Club.
The bride graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in accounting. The bridegroom attended the University of Missouri and graduated with a degree in finance.
The couple will reside in Orlando, where the bride is employed by Walt Disney World Sports and Recreation and the bridegroom is employed with Starwood Vacation Ownership.
