Mr. and Mrs. Robert Van Devender of Union announce the engagement of their daughter, Karen Ann, to Michael Eugene Goodwin, son of Margie Grant and Bobby Jean Goodwin of Grenada.
The wedding will be held Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Union.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Gladys Moss White of Union and the late Felis S. Moss, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Roger Sterrette Van Devender of Meridian.
Miss Van Devender is a graduate of Union High School and received a bachelor's of arts degree in music from Delta State University. She is currently employed by West Lowndes High School as director of bands, and by First Baptist Church of Mathiston as minister of music.
The bridegroom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ware of Courtland; the late Ruth Goodwin and the late Robert Goodwin of Batesville.
Mr. Goodwin is a graduate of Grenada High School and received master's degree in music education from Delta State University. He is currently employed by Starkville High School as assistant band director.
A reception will be held in the fellowship hall, of Union United Methodist Church following the ceremony.
Family and friends are invited to attend.
