PHILADELPHIA Services for Ray Mowdy will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage with the Revs. Jack Nazary and Mark Mayo officiating. Burial will be in High Hill Cemetery in Neshoba County. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Mowdy, 80, of Carthage, died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was a retired mechanic with Tom Brooks Auto Sales and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Mowdy of Carthage; two daughters, Debra Goforth of House and Janet Lee French of Cape Cod, Mass.; two sons, Donald Ray Mowdy of Carthage and Richard Lane Mowdy of Horn Lake; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Latham of Sebastopol and Polly Johnson of Dallas; and two brothers, Raymond Mowdy of Woodbridge, Va. and Joe Mowdy of Newton.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage.

Retired
Services for William F. "Bill" Porter will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Meridian with the Rev. Raymon Leake officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Porter, 76, of Meridian, died Thursday, April 25, 2002, in Meridian. He was born in Key West, Fla., on June 6, 1925. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he attended Mississippi State University where he graduated in 1949. He and his wife of 55 years, Marcelle, spent 27 years in Union City, Tenn., where he developed an interest in HAM radio. He served as a scoutmaster, joined the Masons and became a deacon and Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church. After retiring from GMAC, he and his family moved to Natchez, where they spent 15 years before relocating to Meridian in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Marcelle C. Porter of Meridian; a son, Fred J. Porter and his wife, Debra, of Meridian; two grandsons, Will and Sam; a sister, Helen R. Porter of Doniphan, Mo.; a brother, Thomas E. Porter and his wife, Cynthia G., of Natchitoches, La.; eight nephews and six nieces.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John B. Porter; and a sister, Margaret F. Hedleston.
The family requests memorial be made to the American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be Sam Forbert, Jack Jackson, Bud Ghiglieri, Bill Duncan, Owen Jones, Russell Boyette, Harry Little and Jimmy Chrestman.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 125.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
YOIONTE R. HORN
Services for Yoionte R. Horn will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery. Latimer Metropolitan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Horn, 21, of Meridian, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at Riley Hospital.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth E. Horn of Meridian; his father, Johnny McWilliams of Meridian; six sisters, Telisha Horn, Makisha Horn, Sanyeka Horn, Joquita Horn and Bremissia Horn, all of Meridian and Zynia McClelland of California; a brother, Ryan Cole of Meridian; and his grandmothers, Ella B. Horn and Virgie Ball, both of Meridian.
Visitation will be held Monday from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
