Clarkdale High School senior left-hander Justin Brewer took a step closer to a dream on Wednesday morning, when he signed to play baseball for Meridian Community College.
His brother, Kevin, pitched for the 1996 MCC team that finished second in the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.
Justin Brewer also played outfield for Clarkdale this season, but is expected to be used primarily as a pitcher for the Eagles.
Federico also announced nine other signees, including two who were listed as being among the Dandy Dozen by the Jackson Clarion-Ledger before the season started.
One is Terry High School shortstop Van Pope, while the other is Adams County Christian School right-handed pitcher Christopher Rayborn.
Three of the nine signees were catchers, while two were middle infielders, two were outfielders and two others were pitchers.
The catchers are Aaron George of St. Aloysius in Vicksburg, Josh Morgan of Thomasville, Ala., and Ricky Newman of Franklinton, La.
The middle infielders are Pope and shortstop Joey Lieberman of Warren Central in Vicksburg. The outfielders are Sam Self of Madison Central and Cory Littleton of Murrah High School.
The other pitcher is Jason Phillips of East Central High School in Hurley.
