Investigators from the Meridian Fire Department have not yet determined the cause of a house fire late Thursday night but the home's owner believes he knows what happened.
Johnny Jordan's one-story house at 29th Avenue and Second Street sustained heavy damage to the bathroom and bedroom.
The fire started about 10:50 p.m. as he was preparing for bed. Jordan, 42, was not injured.
Battalion Chief Howard Gibson listed the cause as "undetermined" in his report, but said the fire started in a bathroom in the back of the house.
Four MFD units two engines, a ladder truck and a rescue truck responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze.
Jordan said he was watching television in the living room when he sensed something was wrong. He went to a neighbor's house to call 911.
