Mr. and Mrs. Robert Knox Poole of Emelle, Ala., announce the engagement of their daughter, Annie Elizabeth, to Robert Garner Upchurch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edward Upchurch of Livingston, Ala.
The wedding will be Saturday, June 1, 2002, at 5:30 p.m. at Livingston United Methodist Church.
Miss Poole is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Poole of Emelle, Anne Pierson of Tuscaloosa and the late J.D. Pierson of Livingston.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Sumter Academy and received a bachelor's degree in elementary education, graduating cum laude at the University of West Alabama. She will receive her master's of education degree in library media in August.
While attending UWA, she was a member of Phi Mu fraternity. Miss Poole is employed by Lamar School.
Mr. Upchurch is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Perry Upchurch of Livingston and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Peler Williams of Columbia, Ala.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Sumter Academy and attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Mr. Upchurch will receive a bachelor's degree in chemistry in May from the University of West Alabama. He plans to attend the University of Alabama School of Law in the fall.
A reception will be held in the home of the bride in Emelle. Family and friends are invited to attend.
