EMG sports assistant
After a six-year absence, Steve Marlow returns to Clarkdale with a promotion. He will be the Bulldogs' head baseball coach for the 2002-03 school year.
Marlow comes to Clarkdale after a 2 1/2-year stint as an assistant baseball coach at West Lauderdale. Prior to that, he coached at Enterprise for 3 1/2 years.
Marlow, a 1988 graduate of Lamar School, began his coaching career with a one-year stint as assistant softball and assistant baseball coach at Clarkdale under Rick Roberson.
Another calling card was Clarkdale's size. The Lauderdale County school is one of the smaller in Class 2A.
Marlow will only coach baseball at Clarkdale.
While at West Lauderdale, Marlow was a part of Class 3A state championship teams in 2000 and 2001.
Marlow attended Meridian Community College for two years, got a degree in business management from Mississippi State, and got a degree in teaching and coaching from USM.
Clarkdale qualified for the Class 2A state playoffs this spring, losing a best-of-three first-round series to Loyd Star.
