Graveside services for Oliver Earland Spivey Jr., will be held today at 11 a.m. at Daleville Methodist Church Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Spivey, 54, of Daleville, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at his home. He was a Vietnam veteran.
Survivors include his mother, Sara Ainsworth and her husband, Ed, of Daleville; a son, Daniel Spivey; a granddaughter, Lydia Rebecca Spivey; three stepgrandchildren; a brother, Bart Spivey of Mobile, Ala.; a sister, Carolyn Hamilton of Daleville; two nephews, David Hamilton and Ben Hamilton; a niece, Dara Parris; three great-nephews; a great-niece; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver E. Spivey Sr.
Visitation will be held at graveside, 30 minutes prior to the service.
Graveside services for Daniel "J.D." Busby will be held today at 1 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Wheatley officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Busby, 71, of Meridian, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Guardian Angel Hospice. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Ingrid Busby of Meridian; a stepson, Ted Haguewood and his wife, Debbie, of Germany; two grandchildren, Erich Haguewood of Albany, Ga., and Kelly Haguewood of Kennesaw, Ga.; two sisters, Neelie Smith of Meridian and Macie Curry of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be made to Guardian Angel Hospice.
Services for Virginia Ford Hursey will be held today at 2 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmie Jones officiating. Burial will be in St. Luke Cemetery. Enterprise Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hursey, 84, of Meridian, died Monday, May 20, 2002, in Chicago. She was a retired office helper for Southern Pipe.
Survivors include her sons, Billy C. Hursey and his wife, Martha, of Meridian, Wheeler Ford Jr. and his wife, Lillian, of Lawson, Okla.; daughters, Mattie West and her husband, Nathanil, of Chicago, Doris Ford Ellis of Montclair, N.J., and Ruby Ford Boston of Newark, N.J.; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Tempie DeBruse; and a daughter, Alice Ford Bass.
Services for Evelyn "Tunie" Culpepper Wells will be held today at 7 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jason Bird and Ed Rickles officiating. Burial will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Big Rock Methodist Church Cemetery in Wayne County.
Mrs. Wells, 77, of Meridian, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at The Specialty Hospital of Meridian. She was a member of 15th Avenue Baptist Church and the Beacon Sunday School Class. She was a retired bookkeeper for McElroy Plumbing Co.
Survivors include her husband, Dudley Wells of Meridian; a daughter, Linda Cushing and her husband, Jack, of Anderson, S.C.; a son, Cecil Lamar Jones Jr., of Meridian; three granddaughters, Julia Woods and her husband, Roger, of Greer, S.C., Christina Walker and her husband, John, of Pelzer, S.C., and Jennifer Laws and her husband, Alan, of Birmingham, Ala.; a grandson, John Cushing Jr., and his wife, Leigh, of Carry, N.C.; two great-grandsons, Brody Laws and Dawson Walker; a sister, Doris Glisson of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Culpepper.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Lung Association.
Pallbearers will be Joe Chambers, Blair Baxter, Ron Baxter, Robert Scarbrough, Roger Woods, John Cushing and Ed Rickles.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Jo Chamber Sunday School Class.
GILBERTOWN, Ala. Services for Lucille "L.C." Busby Davis will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hurricane Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Davis, 70, of Gilbertown died Thursday, May 23, 2002, in Meridian.
Survivors include her husband, C.L. Davis of Gilbertown; two sons, Melton Davis of Quitman, Miss. and Garyie Davis of Gilbertown; two daughters, Leona Cooley and Eloise Adams, both of Gilbertown; three brothers, Dennis Busby of Silas, George Busby of Wilmer and Jimmy Busby of Quitman; two sisters, Angeline Farlow of Chatom and Verna Mae Pilot of Mobile; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
