SHUBUTA A benefit program for 1-year-old Cosila Hogan will be 7 p.m. June 1 at St. Mary Baptist Church. Choirs, groups and soloists are encouraged to participate. The church is at 448 Country Road 270.
Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church's annual garage sale will be 6 a.m.-11 a.m. June 1 in the Christian Activities Center. All proceeds will go toward the Youth Fund.
KEMPER COUNTY Zion Church and Cemetery's annual homecoming will be from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. June 2. The day will include worship service, the reading of the annual report and dinner on the grounds.
Revival will be June 2-5 at Prospect Congregational Methodist Church. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day. The Rev. David Watson will be guest evangelist.
The June 2 service will be a message in song featuring Dr. David Watson, Warner Watson and Lee Peyton.

Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church's Annual Choir Day will be 3 p.m. June 2.
HOUSE COMMUNITY Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church will host revival June 2-7 with the Rev. Don Savell as guest evangelist. June 2 services will be at 11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. Services will begin at 7 p.m. June 3-7. The church is at 10021 Road 717.
HATTIESBURG The 2001 Congress of Christian Education will convene June 4 at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. "The Realities of a Christ-Centered Life in Society" is the theme.
Registration fees are: $225, district; $125, churches without association affiliation; $100, churches with association (three voting delegates); and $15, officers.

The 2nd Annual Men's Conference will be June 7-8 at West Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. "The Nehemiah Project" will be the focus of the conference.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. The 2002 Southern Christian Writers Conference Workshop will be June 7-8.
Gilbert Morris, author of 177 novels, will deliver a keynote address on "Succeeding as a Writer." Other speakers are: Esther Burroughs, book author, lyricist and inspirational speaker; Judy Baker, travel writer; Germain Copeland, founder of Word Ministries and author of the best-selling book series "Prayers That Avail Much"; Bill Field, an award-winning screenwriter for television and films; Julie Morris, book author and founder of the weight-loss program Step Forward; and Michelle Jarrell, newsletter editor.
Also speaking are Victor Oliver, president of Oliver-Nelson Books; David Seay, editor of Mature Living magazine; Rob Suggs, humor writer and cartoonist; David Sloan, journalism professor and author of 23 books; Etta Wilson, owner of the literary agency March Media; and Cheryl Wray, freelance writer and author of "Writing for Magazines" and other books."
Recognized as the largest writing workshop in the Southeast, the workshop is designed for both beginning and experienced writers. It will include instruction on writing and publishing books, magazine articles, novels, screenplays, newsletters and other topics. Sessions are geared to writers interested in both Christian and secular publishing.

The youth of New Era Baptist Church will present a Youth Day Program at 3 p.m. June 9. The Rev. Paul Garrett will be guest speaker and the Young People of Praise will be the guest choir.

The Knights of St. Peter of St. Joseph Catholic Church will host an East End Unity Festival from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. June 15. Choirs from various churches will perform. Admission is free; food and beverages will be for sale. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, but no coolers. Canned goods will be collected for LOVE's Kitchen.
The day also will feature a Father of the Year award presentation. Winners will be selected from essays written by their children. Award categories for children are: 7-10, 11-14 and 15-18. The essay theme is "Why My Father Is An Important Part of My Life" and must contain not more than 150 words or not less than 50 words. Essays may be mailed to: Knights of St. Peter Claver, P.O. Summer Vacation Bible School will be held June 17-21, from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., at Central Baptist Church. "Amazon Outfitters On Expedition with the One True God" is the theme.

CLARKE COUNTY East Pleasant Grove Baptist Church's annual Memorial Day Service has been rescheduled to June 23. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m., with lunch at noon and singing in the afternoon.
