George optimistic about MCC women's soccer

By Staff
The best word to describe the Meridian Community College women's soccer program is optimistic.
The new program will begin its first season next fall. At this time coach George has 15 or so games scheduled to be played next season. The tentative schedule has MCC playing division games against Co-Lin, Jones, Mississippi Gulf Coast and Pearl River, but also the Lady Eagles will play a couple games against out-of-state teams such as Shelton State (Ala.) Community College.
The program has made a lot of progress in the past year and coach George credits much of the success to the support of the administration and coaches of MCC.
At this time 18 women are signed to be on the team.
The women coming into the program will face the challenge of starting a brand new program, but George feels he has the right players for the challenge.
George says that coaching women's soccer will be a new experience but one that should work out just fine.
The men's soccer program has been dominate in the past years and George thinks that will help get the women's soccer program rolling in the right direction.
The Lady Eagles will play their first ever home game on Aug. 30.
George will coach both the men's and women's teams at MCC this season.
