Central District Public Service Commissioner Nielson Cochran surprised one of his longtime employees at lunch Wednesday by presenting him with an award of appreciation.
Cochran told Curtis Ray, who retired last week after working for the PSC for 32 years, about his award during a lunch meeting at O'Charley's Restaurant &Lounge in Meridian.
Ray started with the PSC in 1970 as a motor carrier inspector; he retired as one of three area supervisors for the central district.
Cochran said Ray's award of appreciation was well-deserved.
Ray said he now plans to do a lot of work around the house and spend time enjoying life with his wife.
