Two Meridian men remained in the Lauderdale County jail Thursday night after their arrests in separate domestic violence cases in which household irons were reportedly used to assault their significant others.
David M. Gordon, 51, of 1705 17th St., was arrested Wednesday after reports he burned his girlfriend repeatedly with a hot iron. He is charged with aggravated assault, domestic violence and remains in jail on $25,000 bond.
Detective Deano Harper, a spokesman for the Meridian Police Department, said the MPD learned about the incident after officials at a local hospital notified them.
Harper said he was not sure what condition the girlfriend was in and he could not identify her. He said officers arrested Gordon on Wednesday at his home.
In a separate case, officers arrested Kip Love, 25, of 2032 38th Ave. on Wednesday for aggravated assault, domestic violence. Love was charged with using a "cold" iron to assault his wife on June 30.
Love remains in the Lauderdale County jail on $10,000 bond.
