UPSIDE DOWN Emergency personnel use a boat Saturday to rescue John Brooks, 23, of Collinsville, who was headed east on Center Hill-Martin Road when his car hit a guard rail and fell upside down into Okatibbee Lake. A passer-by called 911 on a cell phone at 7:05 p.m. Brooks was listed in stable condition at Rush Foundation Hospital Saturday night, according to Deputy David Rosenbaum of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department. The sheriff's department, Collinsville and Bailey volunteer fire departments, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and park rangers responded. The Lauderdale County Emergency Management Agency was also notified so it could begin clean up efforts to remove gasoline that spilled into the lake.
