13-year-old All-Stars take big wins

BAY CITY, Texas The Meridian All-Stars face Pine Bluff (Ark.) in the seminfinals of the 13-year-old Babe Ruth Southwest Regional today at 1 p.m.
Meridian opened the tournament on Friday with a 12-8 win over host Bay City behind 10 hits, then took a 19-9 win over East Texas by the 10-run rule on Saturday.
In the win over Bay City, Meridian's offense came from a double and triple by Spinks, two singles and three walks from Austin Davis and two singles from Anthony Taylor. Davis and Paxton Pace pitched three innings each for the winners.
Meridian banged out 12 hits in the win over East Texas, with Pate Powell going three-for-three, Pace ripping a single and triple and Davis coming up with a single and double. Spinks also had two hits for the winners.
Jeremy Barnacastle pitched two innings, while Pace threw four.
