Lauderdale County supervisors will begin meeting with department heads at 9 a.m. Wednesday to discuss funding requests for the fiscal year that starts Oct. 1.
County Administrator Rex Hiatt said that supervisors will examine the county budget line-by-line from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. They also could meet next week.
Hiatt said a schedule was unavailable listing when specific department heads will meet with supervisors to discuss their budget.
He also said the board of supervisors is unable to calculate the tax rate for next year and cannot tell residents if their taxes will increase until countywide property reappraisals are complete.
The Lauderdale County tax assessor's office is finishing investigating protests from property owners who disagree with new property appraisals. The office is expected to present updated reappraisals to supervisors Friday.
