Cause of fire unknown

Al Hankins, owner of Hankins Lumber Company in Quitman, said Friday he expects his business to be running again early next week.
The lumber company was the scene of a fire that started about 9 p.m. on Thursday. Hankins said he isn't sure what started the fire but that it appeared to be centered around some machinery.
He also said some lumber was lost in the fire but he did not expect to have an estimate of the damages until Monday.
Quitman Police Chief Jimmy Ivy said volunteer firefighters were still on the scene Friday afternoon watching for hot spots and making sure the fire did not flare up again.
The Clarke County Sheriff's Department, Clarke County Emergency Management, the Quitman Police Department and volunteer fire departments from DeSoto, East Quitman, Harmony, Pachuta, Quitman, Rolling Creek and Stonewall responded to the fire.
