Services for Thomas Melvin Sanderford will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Steve Jordan, John Allen Little and Dr. Richard Short officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Sanderford, 75, of Meridian, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He is the retired City of Meridian Fire Captain. He was the former Fire Chief for Waterways Experimental Station in Vicksburg. He was a retired Master Sergeant with the 186th Air National Guard and was a member of Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church and attended First Baptist Church in Marion and was a member of Faith Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife Bobbie Tidwell Sanderford; a daughter, Dianne Shannon and her husband, Butch, all of Meridian; a son, Thomas Sanderford Jr. of Dalewood; a step-son Phil Smith of Meridian; grandchildren April Luke and her husband, Cary, of Collinsville, Amber Shannon of Jackson, and Allison Shannon of Starkville; one great-grandchild, Braden Luke of Collinsville and a brother, James Howard Sanderford and his wife, Dot, of Huntsville, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Martin Sanderford, his parents, Fred and Exie Sanderford; a sister, Margaret Sanderford Short and a brother, R.F. Sanderford Jr.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Marion, Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church or a favorite charity.
Pallbearers will be Keith Hales, Randy Touchton, R.W. Williams, Gayle Boyd, Sonny McCarra, R. C. McCary, Pat Kidd, Franklin Crawford. Honorary pallbearers will be City of Meridian Firemen, the 186 ANG Firemen and all retired firemen.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Buffinton, 83, of Starkville, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at O'Brian's Personal Care Home.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Buffington Eades of Long Beach; a son, Rex G. Buffington II of Starkville; a sister, Marge Conner of Mobile, Ala.; brothers, John Day of Quitman, and Cronfield Day of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lang, 57, of Union, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at Laird Alliance Hospital of Union.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Moore; a son, William Moore; two grandchildren; a brother, W.R. Lang, all of Union; and a sister, Elizabeth Alford, of Hattiesburg.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5 p.m. -9 p.m. at the funeral home.

BILOXI Graveside services for Rita Nell Patterson will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at D'Iberville Memorial Park following a procession from Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, Inc., in Biloxi.
Mrs. Patterson, 82, of North Biloxi, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, in Ocean Springs. She was born in Meridian and moved to the coast in 1954. She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian.
Survivors include her husband, Woodrow Wilson Patterson, of North Biloxi; a son, David Wilson Patterson, of St. Martin Community; two sisters, Emma Frances Ford, of Commachi, New York, and Johnnie Pauline Reece, of Meridian; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. and Pauline Landrum; and three sisters, Maurine Jeanette Murphy, Pinkie Elizabeth Landrum and MayDelle Lance.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Mrs. Jones, 54, of Meridian, died Thursday, Aug. 22, at University Hospital in Jackson.

SEBASTOPOL Services for Ruth Arlene Monk were held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Crossroads Church of God with the Revs. Larry Melton, Kenneth Johnson and Bob Smith officiating. Burial was in Damascus Cemetery in Walnut Grove.
Mrs. Monk, 80, of Forest, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Monk of Forest; daughters, Helen Luke of Walnut Grove, Ann King of Lake, Jo Windham, Etoile Smith and Deanie Elmore and Rachel Brooks, all of Forest; sons, Herman Monk of Forest and Floyd Monk of Lake; sisters, Alene Maxey of Lake, Rena Mae Hill of Forest; and a brother, Harvey Sistrunk of Forest; 26 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Wayne Monk; a daughter, Mary Ladd, one brother and one sister.
