U.S. Rep. Ronnie Shows will have a town meeting at 9 a.m. at the Jaycee Hall, 4837 Highway 39 North. Shows cites Social Security, Medicare and health care for military retirees as major issues in his campaign.
Shows, 55, a Democrat from Bassfield, and U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering, 39, a Republican from Laurel, are running in the Nov. 5 general election for the newly redrawn 3rd Congressional District.
Shows now represents the 4th Congressional District, while Pickering represents the 3rd District. The two were placed in the same district when Mississippi lost one of its five U.S. House seats.
