Lou Hart's first trip to the Women's State Seniors Championship was certainly a successful one.
This year Hart was able to participate in the tournament for the first time and came away with the championship.
The tournament was played on Sept. 9-10 and was a 36-hole event. It was held in Brookhaven at the Brookhaven Country Club.
The nervousness didn't seem to affect her play. She jumped out to an eight-stroke lead after the first round of play. She shot a 68 on the par-70 course to put herself at 2-under par after the first day.
The eight-stroke lead took the pressure off of Hart and she was able to come out and shoot a 72 on the second day and finish ahead of the other 68 competitors.
The nearest competitor finished seven-strokes behind Hart after shooting a 71 in the final round.
The second-place finisher closed the gap in the first part of the final round to put some pressure on Hart, but in the end could not make the huge comeback.
The win in the event was also special because Hart was the person that actually started the tournament 18 years ago.
