BAYLOR UNIVERSITY Jill Suzanne Hicks of Meridian has accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and will be honored during a ceremony this fall at Baylor University.
Lacy Key, daughter of Roger and Donna Key, graduated from Jones Junior College on Aug. 2 with a degree in cosmology. She will be working at Avenue, The Salon on Front Street in Meridian.
Dean Hatcher, general manager of O'Charley's in Meridian, has announced Claire Webster as an inaugural O'Charley's Guiding Values Scholarship Award recipient. Webster is one of 10 team members from across the company who exemplifies O'Charley's Guiding Values. Each has been awarded a $1,000 educational development scholarship.
A hostess at O'Charley's, Webster has been studying at Meridian Community College. This fall she plans to transfer to Hinds Community College in Jackson to pursue studies in veterinary medicine. Recognized as a member of the National Honor Society, she has been active in the Interact Club and vice-president of her Catholic Youth Organization.
The following students from the Meridian area were recently selected to attend the Mississippi School for Math and Science:
Kyle Doherty, of Meridian, is the son of Sara Springer and Thomas Doherty. He previously attended Northeast Lauderdale High School.
Lucus Maxwell, of Meridian, is the son of Lawrence and Carolyn Maxwell. He formerly attended Northeast Lauderdale High School.
Jason Speed, of Meridian, is the son of David and Ruth Speed. He previously attended Northeast Lauderdale High School.
Erin Smith Saucier is a recent graduate of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where she earned her doctorate degree.
Saucier graduated from R.H. Watkins High School in Laurel in 1989. She earned a bachelor's degree in public accountancy in 1992 and a master's degree in public accountancy in 1993, both from the University of Southern Mississippi.
For the past four years, Saucier attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where she was class treasurer. She will complete a four-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of South Alabama Children's and Women's Hospital in Mobile, Ala.
Saucier is married to Charles Alan Saucier of Biloxi, a CPA/manager with Harper, Rains, Stokes and Knight of Jackson. She is the daughter of Becky and Basil Smith of Laurel. Her grandparents are Mary H. Dillard and the late James V. Dillard of Laurel and the late Ruth B. Smith of Meridian and the late Egbert Smith of Louisburg, N.C.
Dustin Majure of Philadelphia is one of more than 878 students participating in the Cooperative Education Program at Mississippi State University. Majure is the son of Phil and Margie Majure. After completing a third-work semester with BellSouth Corporation in Atlanta, Majure will return to MSU to complete a degree in computer science.
Joel Brown of DeKalb is one of more than 878 students participating in the Cooperative Education Program at Mississippi State University. Brown is the son of Larry and Jan Brown. After completing a third-work semester with Parker Hannifin-Booneville, Brown will return to MSU to complete a degree in mechanical engineering.
