50th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Sam B. Evans will celebrate their 50th anniversary Sept. 19, 2002. The Evans' were married in a private ceremony Sept. 19, 1952 in Meridian. A celebration in their honor will be held at News Restaurant, 5020 Poplar Springs Drive today 2 p.m.-5 p.m. The celebration is hosted by their three children, Debra Asmus, Bill Evans and Patricia Parnell. News Restaurant is where the couple first met. Mrs. Evans is the former Vivien Juanice Brown. Family and friends are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts.
50th anniversary
Wayne and Marlene Stokes of Meridian celebrated their 50th Anniversary Sept. 5, 2002. They were married in Meridian. The couple has four sons, Kim Stokes and his wife, Telsa, of Macon, Ga., Brian Stokes and his wife, Faye, of Causeyville, Chris Stokes and his wife, Beth, of Meridian and Mark Stokes and his wife, Lynette, of Kewanne. They have 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Wayne and Marlene are members of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
