LIVINGSTON, Ala. It'll be homecoming this week for the Livingston High Cougars and with a win, the Cougars will have something more to celebrate.
A win Friday against visiting Greene County would even Livingston's season record at 3-3. The Cougars earned their second win of the season last week by beating A.L. Johnson 30-14 in Livingston.
Jermaine Robinson and Andre Walker each scored two touchdowns for Coach Scottie "Scatter" Jones team against A.L. Johnson.
The Cougars, who had trouble scoring in their first two games, have scored 30 points in two wins.
A key for the Cougars has been Jones.
Two years ago, Greene County was a State 2A semifinalist. The club has fallen on harder times since.
Escambia Academy at Sumter Academy
Another Sumter County school holding homecoming this week will the Sumter Academy Eagles.
Sumter Academy improved to 4-1 overall with a 13-12 win over Pickens Academy last week in York, Ala. The Eagles are 3-1 in Region 2-AA.
Escambia has struggled this season having already lost to both Patrician and South Choctaw Academy. Sumter beat SCA 27-7 two weeks ago in York.
Patrician at Lowndes Academy
Patrician had a narrow miss in beating an AISA Top 10 last week in Butler, Ala. The Saints suffered two lost fumbles in scoring territory and the miscues eventually led to a 13-12 loss to seventh ranked Wilcox Academy.
The loss drops Patrician to 1-4 on the season. This week, the Saints head to Hayneville to battle Lowndes Academy in AISA Region 2-AA action.
The loss against Wilcox spoiled a standout game out of quarterback Beau Meeks. Meeks was 11-of-20 for 131 yards and a touchdown. The score came on a 14-yard toss to Danny Roberts.
The Eagles defense was led by Brett Anderson and Anthony Norwood who had seven stops each. Brian Anderson chipped in six tackles.
Marengo Academy at South Choctaw
Defending AISA AA champion Marengo Academy visits Toxey this Friday night to battle the South Choctaw Rebels.
SCA is coming off a tough 18-0 loss to Southern Academy in Greensboro. Southern came in ranked 7th in the AISA and is now 5-0 on the year.
Before going to Greensboro, the Rebels suffered a 27-7 lost to Sumter Academy in York. The two road losses drops the team to 2-3 on the season.
Three Rebels had good games on defense against Southern. Dustin Eaves and Dusty Johnson had nine tackles and an assist each. Jacob Jenkins had nine solo tackles while Landis Herndon had eight.
West Blockton at Sumter Academy
The Wildcats return home to face West Blocton in a Region 1-3A contest on Friday night in York.
Sumter comes in after getting beat 30-0 by Holt last week. The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-4 on the season.
West Blockton fell to St. Clair County 26-24 last week.
The Wildcats are led by running back Anthony Watkins and Reynundo Sturdivant.
Washington County at Southern Choctaw
Unbeaten Southern Choctaw returns to action at home in Bollinger this week with a home game against Washington County.
The Indians, 4-0, had last week off. They are 2-0 in region play following a 52-3 win over Georgiana two weeks ago.
Southern Choctaw is led by quarterback Bernard McGrew who threw a pair of touchdown passes at Georgiana.
