Clarkdale takes win over Enterprise

ENTERPRISE In the final region 5-2A game of the slow-pitch softball regular season, the Lady Bulldogs of Clarkdale beat Enterprise Tuesday night, 16-5.
Shortstop Megan Potate led the charge with three doubles and knocked in four runs. Enterprise had nine hits on the night, eight for singles and a triple by shortstop Brittnay Speed. Left fielder Leslie Speed was the only player with multiple hits for Enterprise.
Enterprise struck first as Brittnay Speed's triple was the first hit of the game. She found home on a single by left fielder Shannon Creel. Giving Enterprise the 1-0 advantage.
Clarkdale went hitless in the second inning. During the bottom half of the inning a diving catch from the catcher Casey Meador stopped Enterprise from doing any damage.
The play proved to put a spark into the offense. In the top of the third, Clarkdale got three hits, and some help from the Enterprise defense. Left Fielder JorD'an Orr hit a single to set up runners on first and second for pitcher Kaylea Thrash.
Thrash singled to score one run. Up next, Potate lined one to right to score two runs, putting Clarkdale up 3-1.
Enterprise bounced back in their bottom half of the third by taking the lead with four runs to go back up 5-3. Enterprise started the inning off with three straight singles. First baseman Kaccy Jimmerson punched another single to get Charly Speed across to cut Clarkdale's lead to one.
Finneyan stepped up with the bases loaded to hit into a fielder's choice that allowed third baseman Morgan Robinson to score to make it 5-3.
Clarkdale answered with six runs in the top half of the fourth. Brandi Limerick started the rally with a two-run triple to tie the game at 5-5. Casey Meador then doubled with one out. Savanah Satcher followed with a triple to knock in Meador.
Orr then knocked in Satcher to up the lead to 8-5. Potate finished the rally with a double to make it 9-5.
Clarkdale added a run in the fifth off a RBI triple by Bethany Spidle to make it 10-5.
The Lady Bulldogs put the contest away with six runs in the top of the sixth. Brandi Wright had a two-run double while Sabrina Woodall had a two-run, inside the park home run.
The state playoffs begin on Tuesday, with Clarkdale hosting a first-round foe and Enterprise playing on the road at a region champion.
