The Heidelberg Academy Rebels won the District 3A title with a 22-7 win over Wayne Academy last Friday night in Waynesboro. The win keeps the Rebels
undefeated in league play at 5-0 while Wayne drops to 3-1.
This week Heidelberg (6-1) travels to West Point to battle Oak Hill (3-4) in a non-district contest. Oak Hill is coached by former Quitman coach Charlie
Faulkner.
In the big game from last week, Heidelberg used big plays to defeat Wayne in the district showdown.
The Rebels used big plays from senior Blake Bass to conquer the Jaguars for the fourth straight time.
Bass picked off two passes, recovered a fumble, scored on a pass, and set up a score with a punt return.
Heidleberg has won three district battles against Winston, Kemper, and Wayne to wrap up the title.
Heidelberg beat Oak Hill 7-6 last season.
Although there are three games left in the regular season, Heidelberg has secured a fourth straight playoff appearance. All Wayne has to do to secure a playoff spot is beat Kemper in their final game in three weeks.

at Sylva-Bay
Sylva-Bay, who is 1-3 in district play and 3-4 overall moved out to a 35-0 lead against Macon Central (1-6) last week and won 35-14 over the
Vikings. The win halted the Saints' four-game losing streak. PCS (2-4) also halted a four-game losing streak with a 40-7 win over Union.
The Saints' Cody Phillips scored three times on runs of 5, 6, and 30 yards in last week's win. Dusty McCormick ran 17 yards for a score, and Sam Blakeney
ran an interception back 41 yards. Chris Smith scored two on conversions as he caught passes from quarterback John Thompson. Kolt Austin kicked an
extra point.
Last season the Saints won 40-7 over PCS.
Bay Springs at Taylorsville
Taylorsville hosts Bay Springs in a Region 7 2A football game Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Taylorsville has won its last two games and last week whipped district foe Bassfield 41-16 while Bay Springs dropped their regional opener to Enterprise
21-0.
The Tartars are 4-2 overall as six different players last week scored touchdowns in the road win over Bassfield (1-5).
Enterprise(5-1) scored two first period touchdowns and defeated Bay Springs 21-0 in the battle of the Bulldogs.
Bay Springs (3-3) had a 20-yard pass from Lesteven McCullum to Ronnie McCullum and then had a 47-yard run by Channing Taylor, but Enterprise held and the threat was over.
Natchez at Wayne County
The No. 1-ranked War Eagles are finally back home.
The team has played only one home game this year and will host the Bulldogs for homecoming.
Wayne County struggled at times last week against Hancock in a game that Wayne County's head coach Marcus Boyles was not pleased with. Wayne County's defense let Hancock's Brandon Neicase throw for 205 yards on a rain-soaked field. Wayne trailed for the first time all season as they could not get the ball away from Hancock in the opening half. Wayne only ran three plays in the opening period of the game.
Mount Olive at Stringer
Stringer lost 40-0 last week to Enterprise-Lincoln while Mount Olive was upsetting Natchez Cathedral 24-20. The Pirates scored three touchdowns in the
final period to upstage Cathedral.
