SOUTHAVEN Services for John Jamieson "Jack" Houston were held today at 11 a.m. at Christ Presbyterian Church in Southaven. Burial will be in Southwoods Cemetery with Memorial Park Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Houston, 73, of Southaven, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, in his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in Korea. He was a retired special agent for USF &G Insurance Company.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Houston of Southaven; a son, John Houston of St. Petersberg, Fla.; a brother, James Scott Houston Jr. of Atlanta; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Deacons Fund at Christ Presbyterian Church in Southaven.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Henry Thomas Cummings were to be held today at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Gully officiating. Burial will be in Smyrna Cemetery in DeKalb.
Mr. Cummings, 53, of DeKalb, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, in his home.
Survivors include his daughter, Becky Cummings of Meridian; sons, Les Cummings of Philadelphia; and Tommy Cummings of Jackson.
JAMES CLAY
Motor grader operator
Services for James "J.W." Clay will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Charles Robbins, John Koch and Gerald Carlin officiating. Burial will be in Clay Memorial Cemetery in Cuba, Ala.
Mr. Clay, 79, of Bailey, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, in his home. He was a motor grader operator for more than 50 years for Lauderdale County Beat Two. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Clay of Bailey; daughters, Jeanette Williams of Lauderdale, Wayne White of Lockhart, Anne Williams of Hattiesburg, Gail Miller of Meridian, and Ginger Stewart of Lucedale; sons, Tommy Winfield of Hickory and Randy Winfield of Bailey; a brother, Clyde H. Clay and his wife, Edna, of Lauderdale; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be George Lanier, Tommy "Sprite" Smith, Sammy Ray Williams, Louie Daniels, Mike Williams, and David Winfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Houston, O.R. Williams, Glynn Skipper, and Kenny Snowden.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
EVELYN HOPPER MILES

Services for Evelyn Hopper Miles will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Revs. Richard Sword and Jimmy Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Miles, 83, of Meridian, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, in her home. She was a devoted wife and mother, loved sewing and crocheting items that she would share with children and grandchildren. She loved to cook for large family gatherings, loved to garden and preserved fruits and vegetables and she was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Albert P. Miles of Meridian; sons, Tommy Gene and his wife, Lois, of Meridian, Preston Miles Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Tyler, Texas; daughters, Jackie Lewis and her husband, James, of Collinsville, and Mary Charlton and her husband, John, of Butler, Ala.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mable Snowden and her husband, Chestine, Irene Sessums, Nellie Simmons and her husband, John, all of Meridian, Inez Dial and Sadie Dial, both of Boyd, Ala., Ina Pullman and her husband, Frank, of South Bend, Ind., and Johnetta Buchanan of Porterville; brothers, Hugh "Bud" Hopper of Porterville and David Hopper and his wife, Barbara, of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Susie Hopper, a sister, Margaret Hopper and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Snowden, William David Sessums, Billy Buchanan, Jimmy Kelly, Rachel Miles, Bobby Miles, Danny Miles and Kenny Miles. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service on Thursday.
LOIS TINSLEY

PHILADELPHIA Services for Lois Tinsley will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Tinsley, 94, of Philadelphia, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Morningside of Auburn in Auburn, Ala.
Survivors include her daughter, Teryl Robertson of Auburn, Ala.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Elmo Webb of Jackson and a sister, Vonda Webb of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Ben Tinsley and two sons, Dale Tinsley and Bennie Tinsley.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Philadelphia.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
