QUITMAN Clarke County is ready for a community wide cleanup this weekend.
Volunteers plan to clean up alongside several highways in Clarke County. The goal is to clean the county to enhance the quality of life and attract new employers.
Leigh Moore, an administrative assistant at H.C. Watkins Hospital, is chairman of the chamber's environmental committee. She said more than 250 people have called to participate in the event.
Those interested in participating can call Moore at 776-6925, line 2179.
Clarke County's cleanup will be one week after a similar effort in downtown Meridian. Organizers were pleased with the results, well in advance of a visit to Meridian this weekend by some state legislators.
