Many Lauderdale County residents will head to Causeyville on Saturday to celebrate the 15th annual "A Day in the Country."
The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Causeyville Volunteer Fire Department, 12 miles south of Meridian on Highway 19. Entertainment, including country and gospel singers, begins at 9:30.
The day-long event will feature arts and crafts booths and a flea market. Raffle tickets for a .270 Ruger will cost fairgoers $1 each.
Visitors will be able to munch on pork crackling, barbecue plates, sweet potatoes and boiled peanuts.
Organizers expect about 1,000 people to attend Saturday's event, which raises money for the Causeyville Volunteer Fire Department.
At past events, the community has raised about $5,000 during the day, which goes to purchase equipment for the volunteer fire department.
