Heely headlines Navy League dinner

Rear Adm. Timothy L. Heely, a 1975 graduate of the United States Naval Academy who flew combat missions over Kuwait and Iraq during the Gulf War, will headline the annual meeting of the Meridian Area Navy League on Tuesday at Northwood Country Club.
Heely currently serves as commander of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division. His previous assignments include service in the Bureau of Naval Personnel and program manager of the Naval Undergraduate Jet Flight Training Systems.
Virginia Hodges, president of the Meridian Area Navy League, said she's excited to have someone with Heely's stature speaking to the local chapter.
Heely also serves as assistant commander for research and engineering for the Naval Air Systems Command. He has logged more than 3,500 flight hours in his career in the Navy.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. A new president will be introduced and new officers will be announced at the meeting.
