Lady Knights stay unbeaten with win at Carthage

The West Lauderdale girls stayed unbeaten with a big 65-34 win over Carthage on Tuesday night.
The Lady Knights improved to 13-0 on the season and moved to 1-0 in district play with the win.
J.J. Huggins and Amy Frazier each scored 12 points to lead West while Cierra Jennings scored 10.
The Lady Knights jumped out to a huge lead in the first quarter, outscoring Carthage 25-4 in the first. West went on to lead 39-10 at halftime and held on for the win.
Amanda Schmidt had eight points for homestanding Carthage in the loss.
The Lady Knights will try to stay unbeaten on the road against Philadelphia on Friday night.
W. Lauderdale boys 73 Carthage 49
Calvin Moore and Boo Ramsey each scored 21 points for the Knights as West stayed unbeaten with a 73-49 win over Carthage.
West Lauderdale jumped out to a big 26-6 lead after one quarter and led 36-16 at halftime.
Lee Nelson also added 10 points for the Knights in the victory. West Lauderdale moves to 12-0 on the season and 1-0 in district play with the win.
The Knights will travel to take on Philadelphia on Friday night in another district contest.
Central Acad.girls 51 Sylva-Bay Academy 25
Central Academy improved to 10-6 and 3-1 in conference play with a big 51-25 victory over Sylva-Bay Academy on Tuesday night.
The Lady Vikings jumped out to a 17-8 lead after the first quarter and then shut out Sylva-Bay in the second quarter to extend the lead to 31-8 at halftime.
Central then outscored the Lady Saints 9-8 in the third and 11-9 in the fourth to take the 51-25 win.
Megan Stokes had 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Lady Vikings. Olivia Redd added 10 points in the victory. Jane Thompson led Sylva-Bay with 16 points.
Central Academy travel to play Heidelberg Academy in another conference game on Friday night.
Union girls 63 Pelahatchie 26
Union jumped out with a huge first quarter and never looked back on its way to a 63-26 win over Pelahatchie.
Union outscored Pelahatchie 22-7 in the first quarter and then had a solid second quarter to take a 39-15 lead at halftime.
The Lady Yellowjackets then outscored Pelahatchie 14-4 in the third quarter to extend the lead and cruised to the 63-26 win.
LaSaundra Harrison had 22 points to lead Union. Lauren White added 11 points while Marley Smith, Kirby Buckley, Meagan Tidwell and Lauren Kennedy each had six points.
Union improves to 5-2 on the season with the win and will host Thomastown on Friday night.
Choc. County girls 68 Thomasville 37
Choctaw County used a big second half to put away Thomasville and take a 68-37 win on Tuesday night.
Amanda DuBose scored 16 points to lead Choctaw County. Alica Ruffin had 13 points and Ashley Horn added 11 in the victory.
After leading 28-22 at halftime, Choctaw County outscored Thomasville 18-8 in the third quarter and 22-7 in the fourth to take the victory.
With the win, Choctaw County moves to 7-1 on the season and will host John Essex High on Saturday.
