QUITMAN Services for Elizabeth Penn Parker Kirkland will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mitchell McDonald and Billy Kirkland officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Quitman.
Mrs. Kirkland, 91, of Quitman, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital in Quitman. She was born on Nov. 9, 1911, and was a genealogical columnist. She was a member of the board of trustees of Quitman Library, a member of the Clarke County Historical Society, Friends of St. Georges and Descendants of the Knights of the Garter and the Pushmataha Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include two sons, John K. Kirkland Jr. of Quitman and Jeremiah S. Kirkland of Philadelphia; two daughters, Jean Kirkland Thompson of Winchester, Calif., and Julie Kirkland Powell of Quitman; a sister, Melissia McGee of Dallas; seven grandchildren, John K. Kirkland III of Quitman, Stacey E. Kirkland of Brandon, Stuart J. Rowell of Las Vegas, Nev., Rebecca L. Rowell of Quitman, Kristen Kirkland of Albany, N.Y., Teresa Watson of Potsdam, N.Y., and Sgt. Brian Kirkland of South Korea.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.K. Kirkland Sr., and her parents, Leigh Parker and Mattie Norsworthy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or Quitman Library.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John Kirkland, Stuart Rowell, Jay Kirkland, Jere Kirkland, Mike Thompson and George Rowell.
VICTOR M. CHEATHAM
Retired farmer
LOUISVILLE Services for Victor M. Cheatham will be held today at 2 p.m. at Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville with the Rev. Doug Herring officiating. Burial will be in Coy Methodist Church Cemetery in Preston.
Mr. Cheatham, 89, of Louisville, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Pickett Cheatham; a daughter, Patti Skelton of Marietta, Ga.; two brothers, Garland Cheatham of Quitman and Ross Cheatham of Meridian; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Coy Cemetery.
MELVIN ROBINSON
Truck driver
Graveside services for Melvin Robinson will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Collinsville with the Rev. Jim Hall officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Robinson, 55, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include two children, Brittany Robinson and Joseph Robinson, both of Petal; his mother, Clara Robinson of Meridian; two sisters, Carolyn Jackson of Meridian and Wanda Williams of Silas, Ala.; and five brothers, Jerry Robinson and Michael Robinson, both of Meridian, Danny Robinson and Robert Robinson, both of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Donald Robinson of Ripley.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon Monday at the funeral home.
DALE BOSWELL
Truck driver
Services for Dale Boswell will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Boswell, 59, of Meridian, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at his residence. He was a truck driver for Shippers Express. He was also a former Lockheed employee for 19 years. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Boswell of Meridian; two daughters, Cathy Torrence of Atlanta and Kim Pace of Meridian; three brothers, Billy Joe Boswell of Fort Worth, Texas, Robert Boswell of DeKalb and Craig Boswell of Dalewood; two sisters, Barbara Shelton of Meridian and Ouida Lee of Meridian; three grandchildren, Chris Torrence and Dylan Torrence, both of Atlanta, and Sarah Pace of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H.T. and Eunice Boswell.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Barefield, Jerry Reeder, David Scott Shelton, David Boswell, Tommy Godwin and John Torrence.
