East Mississippi Community College President Tommy Davis was recently honored by members of Camp Shelby with a surprise gift presented to him during the October meeting of the board of trustees.
Davis was honored by the Mississippi Army National Guard because of his support of the armed forces. Brig. Gen. Elton Berry presented Davis with a personalized tank commander's helmet and a photograph of the tank ride in appreciation of his support.
Davis participated in an education summit with several community college presidents at Camp Shelby in July 2002. While at Camp Shelby, Davis rode in the Army's main battle tank, the M1A1 Abrams tank, and flew in a UH-60 BlackHawk helicopter.
Davis continues to be a supporter of the armed forces and specifically the Mississippi National Guard.
