Alton H. Vance
UNION Services for Alton H. Vance were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Lucern Congregational Methodist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Holder and Walter Collins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Vance, 88, of Decatur, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Hilltop Manor in Union. He was a member of Lucern Congregational Methodist Church and served during World War II.
Survivors include his son, Milton Vance and his wife, Jeannie, two grandchildren, Michael and Ginger Vance and one great-grandchild, Hunter Vance, all of Decatur; sisters, Laverne Vance of Houston and Bernice Belk and her husband, Jack, of Hurley, Opal Moulds of Union, Bobbie Chaney and her husband, Billy, of Decatur, Ruby Taylor and her husband, Will, and Gladys Vance, all of Union.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ludie Mae Vance.
Pallbearers will be Allen Moulds, Charles Moulds, David Lee Vance, Glenn Vance, Terry Vance and Jackie Belk.
Gilmer Doggett
GILBERTOWN, Ala. Services for Gilmer Doggett will be held today at 11 a.m. at Gilbertown United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dr. Ervin Dailey and Ed Rose officiating. Burial will be in Gilbertown Cemetery. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Doggett, 94, of Gilbertown, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, in Columbus, Ga.
Survivors include his daughter Lauren D. May and her husband, Jerrell, of Roanoke, Ala.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah G. Doggett.
Robert Clay
Services for Robert "Rob" Clay will be held today at 11 a.m. at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Perry officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
Mr. Clay, 73, of Meridian, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Bedford Care Center in Newton.
Survivors include his children, Patricia Ann Clay of Joliet, Ill., Robert E. Clay of Las Vegas, Margaret "Daisy Mae" Clay and Kenny Ray Clay, both of Racine, Wis.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and several other family members and friends.
Delbert H. Breazeale

Services for Delbert H. "Fats" Breazeale will be held today at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Kevin Jones officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in the Oak Grove Community outside of Ellisville.
Mr. Breazeale, 76, of Meridian, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of World War II, a Mason and a member of the St. John Lodge. He worked for Super Stop for more than 28 years and at the Highway 19 Wal-Mart until his death.
Survivors include his wife, Lou Breazeale of Meridian; a son, Rickie Breazeale and his wife, Alishia, of Ellisville; a daughter, Linda Poturalzki and her husband, Walter, of Brandon; grandchildren, Stephanie Lou Freeman and her husband, Mark, Kenny, Kevin and Jason Poturalzki; step-grandchildren, Mathew and Jessica Eason; a great-grandchild, Trinity Faith Freeman; a sister, Helen Nobles of Laurel; brothers-in-law, Martin C. Beech and his wife, Pat, and Howell Beech and his wife, Janice, all of Ellisville; sisters-in-law, Shirley Lynch and her husband, James, of Burke, Va., and Christine Beech of Ellisville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maude Ethel Breazeale; and a sister, Mary Nelson.
Pallbearers will be C.C. Robinson, Eddie Watson, Jack Kern, Gordon Collum, Dondaniel Patterson and Wayne Rutledge.
Hazel Williams Walker

Services for Hazel Williams Walker will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Highland Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Ron McGee officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Walker, 88, of Baton Rouge, La., formerly of Meridian, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, in Baton Rouge. She was an active member of Highland Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Garden Study Club. She and her husband were members of the Meridian Lions and Lioness Clubs for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Jackolyn Durrett and her husband, Joe, of Baton Rouge; sons, Bobby Walker and his wife, Joy, of Hickory, N.C., and Michael Walker and his wife, Patti, of Olive Branch; sisters, Berniece Nicholson and Sarah Williams and a brother, Billy Williams, all of Meridian; five grandchildren, Kim Walker, Cathy Tolbert, Lanie Walker, Marcy Walker and Suzanne Mott.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, N. Jack Walker; her parents, Richard and Arizona Williams; sisters, Jewel Taylor, Maurine Weaver; and a brother, Richard Williams Jr.
Visitation will be Thursday 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bennie L. Granger

Services for Bennie L. Granger will be held Friday at noon at Little Hope Baptist Church in Toomsuba with the Revs. Donnie Hinton and Lamar Smith Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Toomsuba. Clark's Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Granger, 73, of Meridian, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include her children, Gloria Kennedy of Toomsuba, Barbara Gathright and her husband, Lavon, of Meridian, Loretha Granger, Wendy Rowe, Kenneth Granger and his wife, Bobbie, and Michael Granger, all of Meridian, Henry Granger Jr. of Hinesville, Ga.; sisters, Marietta Jenkins of Meridian, Rosetta Wallace of Toomsuba and Bernice Kennedy of Hartford, Conn.; brothers, Frankie Kennedy of Meridian, Albert Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Rose, of Virginia Beach, Va., and James Kennedy and his wife, Hazel, of Toomsuba; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Kennedy and Rosie L. Dunnigan.
Visitation will be Thursday 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ms. Carlisle, 39, of Jackson, who died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, in her home.
Survivors include her son, Markus Carlisle and a daughter, Sonja Carlisle, both of Jackson; her parents, D.C. and Roger Mae Carlisle of Toomsuba; sisters, Elaine Carr and her husband, Roy, Betty Norwood and her husband, Dallas, all of Jackson, Pamela Carlisle of Motrin, Ga.; and a brother, D.C. Carlisle Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.
Visitation will be Friday 5 p.m.-6 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
