Shannon L. Holland of Birmingham, Ala., and Sgt. A. Breck Ballard, USMC, of Kanoehe Bay, Hawaii, were married Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at the Tutwiler Hotel in Birmingham, with the Dr. David Freeman officiating.
Parents of the bride are Linda and Larry Davis of Meridian.
Grandparents of the bride are Floyd H. Henderson of Birmingham and the late Doris Henderson.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Martha Guin of Cullman, Ala., Wallace Green Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Martha Jo Ballard of Hanceville, Ala., and the late Donald Ballard.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Marcia Gunter, harpist.
The bride was given in marriage by her step-father, Larry Davis. She wore an embroidered and beaded white organza gown that featured a strapless bodice of embroidered an illusion band that highlighted the princess panel-style dress. The embroidery extended onto the chapel-length train.
Lindy Lovelady of Birmingham served as maid of honor.
Other attendants were Laura Henderson of Anniston, Ala., Rachel Cochran and Meredith Meacham, both of Birmingham.
Cpl. Eric Manjivar of Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, was best man.
Groomsmen and ushers were Sgt. Boyd Allen of Kaneohe Bay and Petty Officer 2nd Class Aaron Mitchamore of Canyon Lake, Texas.
A reception was held in the hotel following the ceremony.
