Dr. and Mrs. Habib Bazyari of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Lacy Simine, to Russell Joseph Reed, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lyle Reed of Natchez.
The wedding will be Saturday, May 17, 2003, at 3 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church in Meridian.
Miss Bazyari is the granddaughter of the late Burl and Doris Hunter of Philadelphia, Malek Bazyari of Shiraz, Iran, and the late Sattier Bazyari.
The bride-elect is a graduate of West Lauderdale High School and received a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University. Miss Bazyari will receive her juris doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law in May.
While at MSU, she was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Gamma Beta Phi, Golden Key Honor Society and Phi Mu Sorority. While at Ole Miss, she was a member of the Mississippi Law Journal and received the Outstanding Student Award for Constitutional Law II. She was the recipient of the Daniel, Coker, Horton and Bell Academic Scholarship as well as the Hugh "Buzzy" Clayton Memorial Scholarship. She also served as a teaching assistant.
She will be employed with the law firm of Daniel, Coker, Horton and Bell in Jackson.
Mr. Reed is the grandson of Azoline Rhodes of El Dorado, Ark., and the late Ralph Joe Rhodes, Lou Reed of Opelousas, La., and the late Russell Reed.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Trinity Episcopal Day School in Natchez and received a bachelor's degree in microbiology, graduating summa cum laude. He earned a master's in business administration from Mississippi State University.
While at MSU, he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Gamma Beta Phi, Golden Key Honor Society and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.
Mr. Reed is employed by University Medical Center in Jackson.
A reception will be in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony.
