Law enforcement officers from Meridian and Lauderdale County will lace up their spikes today and play a benefit softball game to raise money for a local domestic violence shelter.
Meridian police officers and Lauderdale County sheriff's deputies will team up at 6 p.m. today at Lamar High School to face football and baseball players from Lamar.
All the proceeds from the first-year event will benefit the Care Lodge domestic violence shelter in Meridian a nonprofit organization that serves nine counties in East Mississippi.
Granger said the Meridian Police Department and the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, who both receive annual domestic violence training from Care Lodge, were excited about helping the shelter raise money.
