Meridian police made two unrelated arrests Tuesday on charges of statutory rape.
Errick Bell, 18, of 2032 26th Ave., was arrested based on an incident reported last month by the parents of the alleged victim, a 13-year-old girl.
Capt. Betty Evans of the Meridian Police Department said the act allegedly happened in December at a residence inside city limits. Bell was released from the Lauderdale County jail on $5,000 bond.
Roger Hearn, 30, of 2912 Seventh St. was also arrested for statutory rape on Tuesday and was still being held in the county jail today for authorities from Jackson, who are scheduled to pick him up.
Evans said Hearn is wanted on statutory rape charges in Jackson.
