Membership drive offers taste of art museum

You can learn everything you ever wanted to know about the Meridian Museum of Art during "Martinis at the Museum" on Thursday a night of entertainment designed to entice new members.
This is the second year for "Martinis at the Museum."
The evening will feature door prizes, music, hors d'oeuvres, specialty martinis and an art demonstration by guest sculpter Susan Clark of Louisville.
The hors d'oeuvres and specialty martinis for the program are being provided with the assistance of local restaurants that have volunteered their help for the event.
The restaurants include Applebee's Neighborhood Grill &Bar, Caf Latte, The Hungry Heifer, The Landing, O'Charley's, Popeye's Chicken &Biscuits and The Rustler.
Martinis offered will include the traditional "old-fashioned" vodka martini, as well as specialty versions such as a "chocolate" dessert martini.
A selection of non-alcoholic drinks also will be available.
The cost to attend is $10 per person, which includes admission, two martini tickets, food, music and the art demonstration. Additional martinis are $5 each.
Terry Heder, director of the museum, said the goal of the event is to renew current museum memberships and recruit new ones.
