The 10-year-old Cal Ripken All-Star team will compete in the Cal Ripken double elimination State Tournament in Clinton, Friday through Tuesday.
Head baseball coach Todd Nosco said he didn't know much about the teams in the tourney.
The squad is made up of 13 players, and according to Nosco, they have no weaknesses.
Edward Perry supplies the offensive punch, sending eight home runs out of the park this year. But according to Nosco, pitching is the team's strongest point.
Still, with all the team strengths, Nosco said he is concerned about being lackadaisical.
To prepare for the upcoming tourney, the squad has played eight games since practice began June 19.
In those eight games, all of which were doubleheaders, they've played teams from Clarkdale, Quitman, West Lauderdale, and an all-star team from Northeast.
Should the 10 year-old Cal Ripken all-star team win the state tournament, they advance to regional action July 17-21 in Berryville, Ark.
If they win that regional, they'll be headed to the World Series in Williamsburg, Va August 2-9.
