Clarkdale has turned to Gary Lee to lead the Bulldogs football program for 2003.
Lee comes to Clarkdale from Kemper Academy where the Rams finished 5-5 in 2002.
Clarkdale went 7-4 last fall for its first winning season since 1982. The Bulldogs also made their first-ever appearance in the state playoffs.
Since fielding its first team in 1962, Clarkdale has an all-time record of 110-291-5 on the gridiron.
Clarkdale suffered a pair of 30-plus game losing streaks during the 1980s and 1990s. Lee inherits a Bulldog squad that has found how the other half lives.
Clarkdale lost several key players from the 2002 team.
A graduate of Decatur High School where he played for Willie "Tennie" Coats, Lee also has coaching stops at Oak Grove and Lamar School.
Clarkdale opens its 2003 season on Aug. 28 at West Lauderdale.
