60th anniversary
Jim and Bessie Chandler of Meridian will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on July 21, 2003. They have six children, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and are expecting another great-grandchild in September. The Chandlers are members of Calvary Baptist Church.
50th anniversary
Thomas and Sally Luke of Preston will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a reception at Lynville United Methodist Church on Aug. 3, 2003, from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. The Lukes were married Aug. 1, 1953, at Andrews Chapel parsonage in Lauderdale County. They have two sons, Tommy Luke and his wife, Lori, and Robert Luke and his wife, Tracy, and grandsons, Cody and Bailey Luke, all of Preston. Family and friends are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts, please.
50th anniversary
Eugene and Jackie Masters will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a reception hosted by their children and grandchildren on Sunday, July 27, 2003, from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at York Baptist Church. The Masters have three children and three grandchildren. They were married Aug. 8, 1953.
25th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Robert "Wayne" Buie celebrated their 25th anniversary on June 30, 2003, on a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico. The couple was accompanied by their daughter, Leah, and her husband, Josh Todd. Mrs. Buie is the former Lenita Fondren.
40th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Shadwick will celebrate their 40th anniversary on Monday, July 21, 2003. The couple was
married at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church on July 21, 1963. Nathan is a retired employee at Northwest Airlines of Memphis, Tenn., and Dorothy is a retired Lauderdale County school teacher. They have two children, Andrea Rene and Tammy.
60th anniversary
Henry Arno Daum Jr. and Suzanne Barbara Sherk Daum of Meridian celebrated their 60th anniversary on July 18, 2003. They were married in Cumberland, Md., on July 18, 1943, during World War II. They were honored by their children, Louise A. "Toni" Daum, Henry Arno Daum III and Alice C. Daum Liddle on July 19, 2003, with a reception at the Meridian Art Museum. Henry was employed at Mississippi State University. Since his retirement, he has been serving as director of the Mental Health Association of Lauderdale County. Sue volunteers at Trinity Lutheran Church.
