The United Way of East Mississippi has invited local residents to participate in a special project designed to fill the need of school supplies for students whose families are unable to purchase necessary supplies for the beginning of the school year.
The project provides convenient drop off locations for supplies.
Supplies include No. 2 pencils, crayons, ball point pens, wide-ruled notebook paper, picket folders, scissors, spiral notebooks, glue and rulers. They may be dropped off at any BankPlus location, Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, Riley Hospital, Rush Foundation Hospital, WTOK-TV or in Clarke County at Watkins Hospital.
Donations will also be accepted at the United Way office, 2003 23rd Ave. in Meridian. Collection containers are in place now and will be available until Aug. 15.
The first distribution of the supplies to the Boys and Girls Club, Wesley House, Salvation Army and the United Way office will take place on Aug. 6 and the second distribution on Aug. 15.
Cash donations may also be made. Make checks payable to United Way of East Mississippi, designated for Supply Our Students, and mail to the United Way of East Mississippi, P.O. Box. 5376, Meridian, MS 39302.
