QUITMAN Tough non-division foes and an extremely tough division schedule will make Quitman's 2003 football schedule a competitive one.
New teams have popped up on the schedule for the Panthers this season. Quitman will open the season with one of those as Heidelberg comes to town on Aug. 29. The Panthers will then travel to take on South Jones on Sept. 5.
The schedule doesn't get any easier as Quitman hosts Pascagoula and then travels to Newton County to finish out its non-division schedule.
The Panthers will move into
Division 5-4A play on Sept. 26 and should find no comfort in the division matchups.
Quitman's first division game will be against powerhouse Wayne County which moved down from 5A after winning the state championship last season.
After hosting Wayne County, the Panthers travel to play Northeast Lauderdale and then come home to take on Mendenhall for Homecoming on Oct. 10.
A trip to play West Jones follows Homecoming. The Mustangs enjoyed a successful season last year and should be ready for Quitman once again.
Quitman closes out the regular season with a home game against Northeast Jones and a trip to take on Florence.
The Panthers have worked hard in the offseason and hope to be ready for the difficult schedule.
